Round four of the Dimboola and District Tennis began on Friday, October 25, with Rainbow travelling to Dimboola to tackle Antwerp.

Both teams are firmly entrenched in the top four and were looking to grab the upper hand as the season progresses.

This season it is great to see so many of the younger kids stepping up to have a go at playing senior tennis to help fill teams out each week.

In the mixed, Antwerp was on top early, winning all but one of the sets and giving them the perfect start to the contest. Antwerp 3 sets, 34 games to Rainbow 1 set, 16 games.

In the men, a similar scoreline was evident as Antwerp extended their hold on the points to win 3 sets, 33 games to 1 set, 20 games.

In the women, Antwerp completely dominated, only allowing Rainbow 10 games to have an easy win and in so moving them up a rung on the ladder, the score being 4 sets, 36 games to 0 sets, 10 games.

The overall score was Antwerp 5 match points 10 sets, 103 games to Rainbow 0 match points, 2 sets, 46 games.

On Saturday, Dimboola travelled to Jeparit to take on the Redbacks, with both teams looking to claim their first win of the season.

Congratulations to Bella Spokes on playing her first game of senior tennis for Jeparit.

In the mixed, it was Dimboola who got on top early, having a very good win and going a long way to them getting the points on the day. Dimboola 5 sets, 50 games to Jeparit 1 set, 20 games.

In the women, Dimboola also dominated the contest, having another good win, only giving 1 set to the opposition. However, there were some good contests, including a tie-breaker. The score was Dimboola 5 sets, 53 games to Jeparit 1 set, 24 games.

In the men, the visitors finished off the game in commanding style and in so, giving them their first win for the year, claiming the victory 4 sets, 40 games to 1 set, 30 games.

The overall score was Dimboola 5 match points 14 sets, 143 games to Jeparit 0 match points, 3 sets, 74 games.

Also, on Saturday, Brim travelled to Warrack. Brim are sitting just outside the four, so a win was needed to keep them in touch, and Warrack is comfortably on top of the ladder, looking to increase their advantage.

In the mixed, it was Warrack who came out on top in a one-sided affair, winning with 4 sets, 37 games to Brim 1 set, 30 games.

The women also went one way with a convincing win to Warrack, 6 sets ,54 games to 0 sets, 15 games.

In the men however, Brim were able to turn the tables, giving Warrack 0 sets and claiming a good win 4 sets, 36 games to 0 sets ,20 games.

The overall score was Warrack 4 match points, 10 sets, 111 games to Brim 1 match point 5 sets, 81 games.

The last game for the weekend saw Hopetoun travel to Dimboola to play Arkona. Hopetoun was sitting fourth on the ladder and needed the win as Brim breathed down their neck for a spot in the top four.

In the mixed, Hopetoun got on top early, making a big break on Arkona to easily win with 5 sets, 49 games to 1 set, 31 games, although the scores do not show there were a couple of tie-breakers during the mixed to make things interesting.

The men were a fairly even contest on the day, with Arkona having a late rally but going down 4 sets, 50 games to 2 sets, 33 games.

The women were dominated by Hopetoun convincingly defeating the Arkona women and giving the team a huge win 5 sets, 45 games to 0 sets, 9 games.

The overall score was Hopetoun 5 match points, 14 sets, 144 games to Arkona 0 match points, 3 sets, 73 games.
