The annual Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea has been a pre-winter feature on the calendar for 31 years, offering communities a chance to aid in the fight against this insidious disease.
It is a popular event, and this was evident by the turn out at Rainbow's event last week, where approximately 40 people gathered for a cuppa, some cakes, and to offer donations to the cause.
Building on the principle that partnerships strengthen community and provide opportunities, two community groups combined to make the 2024 event happen, working together for the first time.
The Southern Mallee Co-Operative Parish of the Baptist and Uniting Churches and the Rainbow Learning Group and Neighbourhood House were able to collect $744.50, as well as strengthen community bonds.

West Wimmera Health Service's Simon Cummings took the opportunity to speak to the attendees about the benefits of exercise in the treatment of cancer, as well as general health and wellbeing.
Mr Cummings can be contacted for individual and group sessions through the hospital.
Neighbourhood House manager Asher Ludwig said the event was a success.
"What an amazing event we managed to put on," Mr Ludwig said.
"I am absolutely amazed by the turnout and donations.”
Reverend Susan Pearse agreed and congratulated the community on their willingness to support such events.
"The hall was full, it was warm and welcoming, great food and well received," Rev Pearce said.
"What a great effort by our members and the wider community.
"I think people enjoyed it, as well as giving a gift to those in need.
"Everyone making a contribution enabled the event to happen, so congratulations to the Rainbow and District community."
