Roadworks completed on Wimmera Highway
A series of works carried out will be a part of the state government’s regional road maintenance blitz.

ROADWORKS along seven kilometres the Wimmera Highway are now complete in an effort to create smoother journey’s for freight and farming workers as well as residents.
Completed works include a 1.2 kilometre section at Dooen, 2.9 kilometres at Vectis, 1.3 kilometres at Jung and 1.7 kilometres at Rupanyup.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said the government was upgrading and improving roads right across Western Victoria to ensure local communities can rely on them each and every day.
“These vital upgrades ensure that all Victorians travelling on the Wimmera Highway get where they need to go safely – whether they’re locals, travellers, farmers or freight operators,” he said.
Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford said the government knew the sections of the Wimmera Highway played a crucial role in freight and farming in the region.

“(This) is why we are strengthening the road to bolster safety and keep the supply chain moving,” she said.
“Upgrading more than seven kilometres ensures smoother journeys for the community and safer, more reliable travel.”
The series of works are part of the state government’s regional road maintenance blitz.
Drivers will continue to see crews out in force across western Victoria between now and mid-2022 as part of the blitz, which is rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing more than 400 kilometres of roads across the region.
In total, the road maintenance blitz plans to deliver more than 1000 individual projects across Victoria’s regional network, delivering improved journeys across more than 1400 kilometres of road.
