Jeparit Rainbow Football Netball Club will stage the annual Mick Helyar Memorial Lakers Cup as a night event for the first time this year.
The sheep races will be held at Rainbow Recreation Reserve on Saturday April 26th after Jeparit Rainbow’s home game against Ouyen. The club will put on a casserole tea after the game followed by the sheep races which are scheduled to begin at 7.30pm.
Club president Brett Fisher said that holding this event under lights will provide an opportunity for people from outside the club to come along and enjoy a fun evening. By holding the sheep races at the beginning of the season the club hopes to get its social program off to a good start. This is in line with Jeparit Rainbow not only providing a sporting outlet for the local community but also a social outlet.
The sheep races will feature the usual fashions on the field plus a chance for those attending to form a syndicate and buy a sheep to run in the races. For more details view the ad in this Argus.
