Rainbow Bowls Season Opens
By J. & F. C.
On Sunday the Rainbow Bowls Club had their opening day. President Wayne Nitschke welcomed all bowlers to the club and wished them a good season of bowling.
He then introduced Mr Geoff Glowrey of Horsham and a member of BVRR to do a presentation of Veterans bowlers in our club. I refer to Len Sluggett and Grat Parry who became eligible for this award after turning 80 years old.
This presentation was received with warm acclamation. Wayne then invited Grat to put down the first kitty for the season and Lenny the first bowl and then declared the season open.
Trophies for the day were donated by Ben Gaut of Skybow Bulk Haulage and the Club thank him very much for this very generous donation.
Results for the day are in another section of the paper.
After bowls a BBQ tea was enjoyed by all and the season was well on the way. Saturday Pennant starts on the 5th of October, so get in some practice to represent the Club.
Till next week,
“Good bowling all.”

Joke of the Week…
Paddy and Murphy were building a fence. Paddy looks at each nail carefully before hammering it in but throws half the nails away.
Murphy asks, “Paddy, why are you throwing those nails away?”
Paddy says, “They have the head on the wrong side.”
“Paddy you idiot, those are for the other side of the fence,” Murphy exclaims.
