Great War LogoAS ANZAC Day approaches, the readers of the Rainbow Argus are invited to honour their ancestors and win a prize in the process.

Readers will have the opportunity to win either a:

First prize is a superb 1916-2016 Sands of Gallipoli limited edition medallion set valued at $245.00.

Or

The Second prize will be the 1916 Great War Diary – binder and inserts 1 and 2 valued at $66.00

We are asking you to either “create diary page from 1916’ – either from someone serving abroad or at home.  People could be asked to share actual family history or local history. It is about getting people thinking about the times and the people. To inspire content you could publish or make available online, excerpts from the 1916 Great War Diary.  This diary series was created with leading historians and artists to share the history-based story of a family’s journey through the war. It has thousands of avid readers/collectors.

Diary Part 1 – 1916

Diary Part 2 – 1916

Otherwise why not create a  ‘photograph or selfie’ that captures local history, the people who make up your community; or the memorials you maintain to remember our past.  Regional communities have a great sense of pride and respect for our diggers of all conflicts and this is what we want to share.

Entries close on May 6 2016 and published in the Rainbow Argus on May 12.
