Jeparit will once again come together to celebrate Anzac Day on April 25.
“This year’s Anzac Day service will return to the RSL Hall after a change in venue last year. The service will start at 11am on Anzac Day. Our guest speaker is Sally Hoar from Toowoomba, Queensland. Sally has ties with Jeparit and had family members who have fought in the war,” Campbell McKenzie said.
“After the service we will conduct a march from the Hall in Roy Street around to the Broadway War Memorial where there will be the laying of wreaths. Sue Bell from Tarranyurk will be playing the bagpipes and will lead the march to the War Memorial,” Mr McKenzie said.
“We hope the school will be involved. We’re looking for some students to read In Flanders Fields, which I’m sure we’ll find by Anzac Day,” Mr McKenzie said.
“Any RSL members who are still around at the end of the service are welcome to go back to the RSL Clubrooms for a BBQ lunch,” Mr McKenzie said.
“We hope to see most of Jeparit come out and honour this wonderful day in our history. All are welcome,” Mr McKenzie concluded.
