South Western Mallee Region local Landcare facilitator, Daniel Huttig believes this Saturday, August 23 will mark a momentous day in Yaapeet as the Rainbow & District Landcare Group hosts their inaugural ‘Pfitzner Phestival’.
The festival will consist of a Landcare tree-corridor planting day at a property called ‘Pfitzners’, just outside Yaapeet, and a music festival to be held at the Yaapeet Recreation Reserve on Saturday night. University students from Deakin and Ballarat will be attending the event and are particularly interested in the idea of a large scale tree planting.
Triple J unearthed act, The Hounds Homebound will be headlining the night’s entertainment, followed by local acts The Lazy Farmers Sons, Tony Ruth, and The Brodie Glen Show.
Entry to the festival is by gold coin donation from 6pm onwards, and is strictly “No BYO”. Food with a spit roast dinner and drinks will be available throughout the night at the bar, but it is advised that patrons bring cash as there will be no eftpos or ATM facilities at the venue. Camping sites are also available for the night with a free breakfast on Sunday.
Anyone wishing to attend the tree planting day are encouraged to contact Local Landcare Facilitator Daniel Huttig on 0421 731 459, and further information can be found by searching for the Pfitzner Phestival on the Mallee RLN facebook page.
